Defer Bihar Polls, Nitish Kumar Ally Chirag Paswan Writes To Election Body Over COVID
BJP-JDU ally Chirag Paswan said in a letter to the Election Commission that assembly elections in Bihar could pose a threat to coronavirus epidemics and politicians alike as they vote through shared electronic voting machines One can contract a fatal infection while casting or casting a vote.
Today, this year's election should be sought to be postponed. This paper may prove to be another point of struggle among the allies of the National Democratic Alliance as it supports the equal demand of the opposition.
"The COVID-19 epidemic has taken a macabre form. Experts believe that by October-November, its impact will worsen in Bihar. At this time, our priority should be to save people's lives, not To hold elections … a big part.
The leader of Lok Janshakti Party wrote, "Bihar is in the grip of floods due to floods. It will be extremely difficult to conduct elections according to ICMR guidelines. "
Mr. Paswan said that how the voting would be concluded safely amid the rapid rise in cases of coronovirus, Mr. Paswan said that already positive people would not get a chance to exercise their authority.
"Bihar has a population of 13 crore, of which 8 crore are voters. It will be impossible to vote for them while maintaining social disturbances … How will they vote for the infected caste? What about those zones where the movement of people is banned is?" he said.
So far, 48,477 coronavirus cases have been reported in Bihar, including more than 280 deaths. Several social media reports have claimed widespread mismanagement in state-run hospitals.
"Presently providing relief to COVID-19 patients and the people affected by the flood should be the top priority. The people affected by the flood should be rehabilitated and our health services should be improved. The resources of the state should enhance the lives of the people of Bihar. Should spend on making better … "he added.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is facing almost daily attacks from the opposition RJD, which says the state government is going through a coronavirus situation, so assembly elections may be held in time.
"They are only concerned about their seats. The BJP is holding its virtual rallies, the Chief Minister is holding its virtual rallies. But they are not standing with the poor people of Bihar. The poor are dying. There is devastation everywhere. But Only concerned about his pedestal. They are preparing for the election, "RJD's Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, said earlier this month.
Expressing similar sentiments, Mr. Paswan tweeted that if the elections were to be held in the midst of an epidemic, there could be a big drop in the voting percentage. He had also questioned the Nitish Kumar government over the investigation into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, saying the chief minister needed to be "more active".
The BJP has announced Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial face of the ruling NDA for the Bihar elections.
In May, Mr Paswan remarked that he would support the BJP "whether it goes with Nitish Kumar's leadership or changes his mind".
Recently, the LJP leader removed a party leader for stating that the NDA is united in Bihar.
