Punjab gives 50 lakh compensation to the family of soldiers killed in Jammu and Kashmir

 

Chandigarh:

The Punjab government today announced an ex-gratia amount of ₹ 50 lakh for the family of Subedar Rajesh Kumar, who was killed in a shootout by Pakistani soldiers along the Line of Control in Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.


A government job was also announced for a member of the soldier's family.

According to an official statement, Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh said that Rajesh Kumar, the subedar of 60 SATA regiments for the country, had passed away.

Rajesh Kumar was a resident of Kalichpur Kalota village of Mukerian in Hoshiarpur district.

She is survived by her parents, wife, daughter and a son. His father, Ram Chander, retired from the same unit as a sergeant.
