Cabinet Secretary Reviews 10 States With High COVID-19 Fatality Rate

 

New Delhi:

The Center on Thursday reviewed the COVID-19 management and response strategy in nine states and one union territory, accounting for 89 percent of deaths due to infection in the last two weeks, an official statement said.


In a review meeting of Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba, these states and Union Territories were asked to continue vigorously so that infection can be prevented as well as steps can be taken to reduce fatal diseases.



Mr. Gauba Cabinet Secretary held a video conference with the Chief Secretaries and Health Secretaries of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, the Health Ministry said in the statement.

States and Union Territories were advised to take steps to reduce the matter to less than one percent in all districts, focusing on effective control, contact tracing and monitoring.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan gave a detailed presentation on the current status of COVID-19 in these states and union territories, focusing on districts reporting high case fatalities as well as approaches and strategies related to testing and liaison There was a need to strengthen. "It was observed that 89 percent of the deaths in the last two weeks in the country occurred in these nine states and one union territory," the statement said.

They were also advised to ensure that in at least 80 percent of fresh COVID-19 cases, all close contacts are detected and tested with 72 hours and a minimum of 140 tests per day targeting positivity in districts Be done / confirmed rate of less than 5 percent, it said.

Nine states and union territories were asked to keep the availability of beds and ambulances in the public sector in COVID facilities, while significantly reducing the ambulance response time.

Emphasis was placed on monitoring week-wise lethality rates for each health facility with life-saving and frail patients (especially those focused on patients over 60 years of age) by effective clinical management of all cases.

Upgradation of CASLOID-based COVID facilities and monitoring the availability and use of essential drugs, masks and PPE kits at all facilities was also affected.

The statement said that COVIDs focus on behavior change promoting appropriate behavior, highlighting the wearing of masks, hand cleaning and cough etiquette.

The Chief Secretaries explained in detail the preparedness to deal with the prevalence of health infrastructure, COVID-19 available to meet the current situation and challenge in the States / UTs and the steps taken to further strengthen it.

The states and union territories highlighted the steps taken towards reducing the fatalities of the case as well as involving the community in the context of COVID-19 safe behavior.
